Overview
  • CSM--This is a two-day course aimed for software development teams, in order to help them gain an in-depth understanding of Agile and Scrum. This training consists of interactive games and exercises that will challenge students to solve problems that can be faced in real-life situations, when implementing Scrum and Agile into a team. The course includes learning the fundamental thinking of Scrum and Agile, its project management methods and techniques and how to build an efficient Scrum team. Whether they are large teams, outsourcing projects or teams placed in different locations, you will gain a thorough understanding of how to use Scrum and Agile in practice.
  • A-CSM--You’re a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®), who’s been introduced to the Scrum Values, practices, and applications. The next step in your Agile journey is to achieve your Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM®) certification.
  • Through the A-CSM, you’ll learn to:
  • Facilitate better dialogue between the Product Owner, Scrum Team members, customers, stakeholders, and executives
  • Respond confidently when encountering resistance to change, lack of engagement, low motivation, and unavailability of key people
  • Increase engagement to encourage greater accountability, commitment, and buy-in
  • Scale Scrum and Agile beyond a single team

Course Features
  • In our ‘Workshop’ style lectures, we use highly interactive games and exercises led by our Senior Scrum Trainers, with several years’ experience in large led teams internationally including the United States. This program has been successful in delivering Scrum to a large amount of multinational companies around the world.

Course Audience
  • Hold a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) certification with the Scrum Alliance.
  • Attend a certified A-CSM educational offering to gain techniques and skills that go beyond the basics and mechanics of Scrum, expanding into interaction, facilitation, coaching, and team dynamics.
  • Successfully complete all educator-designed components of an approved educational offering. This may include pre- or post-course work as deemed necessary by your approved educator to complete the learning objectives.
  • Accept the A-CSM License Agreement and complete your Scrum Alliance membership profile.
  • Validate at least 12 months of work experience specific to the role of Scrum Master (within the past five years).
  • NOTE: You may take the A-CSM course at any time after completing your CSM certification, and must have at least 12 months of Scrum Master experience logged into your Scrum Alliance profile before you are eligible to receive your A-CSM certification.

By successfully completing the course and the online certification test, you will receive

Agenda
  • Day 1 & Day 2 CSM
  • Module 1: Agile and Scrum Overview
  • Scrum is simple as a minimal reflective framework, but not easy to apply it. In this module, it will cover Scrum values, foundations and overview. Only a few organization could deliver business values continuously, although many of them are doing agile. Why? What is the problem? This course will illustrate Scrum from “Tao, Method, Strategy” - 3 levels to decompose Scrum. The participant will not only know what is agile and Scrum, but also the core of agile and Scrum, and the truly benefits from agile.
  • Module 2:Scrum Team Responsibility and Accountability
  • There are 3 roles in Scrum: ScrumMaster, Product Owner, and developers. And why the 3 roles, why not project manager, what’s the responsibilities of managers. It will cover above questions in this module.
  • 2.1 Developers
  • It is self-managing, cross functional team for Development Team in Scrum, which is small team for swarming work together. How to build such team, and how to motivate the team. Let’s discover the secret of team in this module.
  • 2.2 ScrumMaster
  • ScrumMaster is a totally new role in Scrum, who is not project manager. In Scrum, ScrumMaster looks idle, nothing to do. But it is illusion, and also misunderstanding. ScrumMaster works as coach, coaching team Scrum transformation; ScrumMaster also works as sheep dog, protecting team from the disturb; ScrumMaster is a facilitator, to make team meeting more focus and easier; ScrumMaster is a change agent, not only help team transformation, but also help organization transformation.
  • 2.3 Product Owner
  • Product Owner is in charge of maximizing values of the product and development team. In Scrum, what tools and how PO could achieve above work, will be covered in this module.
  • Module 3:Scrum Artifacts, Product Backlog and Items
  • Product Backlog is the input for development team, which is the important part for a team. Good product backlog is DEEP. How to create a good product backlog, how to split items, and what should be put into product backlog. It will be covered in this module.
  • Module 4:Agile Estimation and planning
  • How to estimate in Scrum, and what level of details of items. “Responding to change over following plan” in agile manifesto, so how to do planning in agile. And what kinds of planning in Scrum, and how to use them.
  • Module 5:Scrum Events
  • Scrum Events includes: Sprint planning, daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospectives and product backlog refinement. Why does it have the 5 events in Scrum, when to have them, and how to do. Let us co-create the Scrum events together.

    Jim Wang, Certified Scrum Trainer (CST since 2015) from Scrum Alliance, CAL Trainer, ALJ Guide, MBA, Management Consultant, working with organizations to improve their product end-to-end discovery and delivery process, and specializing in agile hardware, agile leadership & organizational change. Jim’s background is cross mechanical and electrical engineering, manufacturing and software development. The author of books “Scrum Practice Essential” and “Agile Coach Growth Scripts”.  
    Jim has a vast understanding of coaching and training executives from different industries and cultures. Jim has 25 years of experience in the software and hardware industry. Jim began his career as a Chief Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) engineer at Vicor in Boston, after living in USA for 11 years, he has since then actively been practicing Scrum, Jim returned to Shanghai and successfully built up the Endeca Offshore Development Center (acquired by Oracle) and the Avid China Development Center, both centers were using Scrum, he has led over 150 teams through to successful build high-end software products. He has also served as Director of Oracle's Shanghai BI R&D center, and held executives at two global software firms. 
    Jim specializes in interactive teaching style. His innovative approach and realistic case studies have proven to be very popular among trainees. Jim brings a wealth of experience to his customers, having worked with global organizations, training and coaching teams in the USA, China, Japan, India, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam etc. Jim has worked with clients including Roche, Lilly, Lundbeck, Delixi Electric, Honeywell, Siemens, Microsoft, McD, BMW, IKEA, Standard Chartered, China Bank and many other global companies.
    Jim has a Master's Degree in Computer Information Engineering and a Master's Degree Mechanical Engineering, both from Northeastern University in Boston, and MBA Entrepreneurship Program from Babson College in Wellesley.
