  • The CAL II program is an advanced education, validated practice, and peer-based sharing program that consists of learning and practice across three categories.
  • The goal of CAL II is to guide leaders in deepening, applying, and sharing their agile leadership learning.
  • CAL II focuses on three categories defined in the CAL I program:
  • ● Leadership in an Agile Context
  • ● The Agile Organization
  • ● Agile Approaches to Change
  • CAL II participants may submit education and practice activities to Scrum Alliance that occurred prior to program participation for possible validation.
  • Scrum Alliance Agile Leadership (CAL II) Advanced Class: Leadership, Organization & Strategy for change meet the awareness & discovery.
  • Agile executives learn to support and promote the organizational and cultural change towards agility, in order to create organizations which are more competitive and responsive, whilst delivering value to its customers and supporting work life balance for its employees.
  • The first 2 workshops of the 3 advanced classes provide a deep dive on the topics of the Foundation class: Leadership & Organization. The third session focuses on Strategy for Change.
  • This is the outline:
  • Day 1: Strategy for Change Training
  • Day 2: Organizational Design Training
  • Day 3: Agile Leadership Training
  • Follow-up: Peer Workshop
  • Days 1-3 are run consecutively. Follow-up is run one month later, and the participants will get homework assignments. It is a seminar or workshop to present the results of the homework, discuss the situation and get feedback and advice from both the other students and the trainers/coaches.
  • Please note: CAL II requires an active combination of two or more of CAL-E, CAL-T, or CAL-O, as well as successful completion of our Scrum Alliance Certified Agile Leadership II program with a Scrum Alliance Certified Educator. In addition, if you hold the non-expiring CAL-I credential, this serves in the place of two or more of the new CAL-E, CAL-T, or CAL-O certifications.

  • Agile Leadership (CAL II) Advanced: Strategy for Change (1 day)
  • This is a deep dive into principle 4 of ORGANIC agility. The focus will be in understanding how to explore and exploit, how to use the Strategy Map framework to guide activities within your organization (operating model) and support change and continuous evolution (change management) in a meaningful way. The deep dive will include practical exercises based on sample case studies to experience the application of the frameworks.
  • Understand how to map your customers segments on the Market Adoption curve, and model your existing business models
  • Create anticipatory triggers to signal when it is time to start shifting to a different organizational form
  • Drive the creation of a Strategy Map and define a suitable operating model for your organization
  • Agile Leadership (CAL II) Advanced: Organization (1 day)
  • This is a deep dive into principles 3 and 5 of ORGANIC agility. Starting from the value delivery perspective, methods such as Value Stream Discovery and Competency Mapping will be introduced and analyzed with concrete examples. The deep dive will include practical exercises and application of the methods to sample case studies allowing for practical application and interactive learning.
  • Identify the target groups for a specific value stream
  • Identify the necessary skills to deliver value within a value stream
  • Assess the competencies your organization has, in order to determine the best organizational design to deliver value on a value stream
  • Leverage self-organization to increase autonomy within the organization
  • Agile Leadership (CAL II) Advanced: Leadership (1 day)
  • This is a deep dive into the ORGANIC Leadership framework, focusing on exploring Leadership attitudes, roles and archetypes as well as the principles 1 and 2 of ORGANIC agility. The training will move from low level autonomy archetypes towards higher level autonomy ones, and introduce tools to support the transition between them, in particular for: Conflict resolutions, Collaborative decision making (using Cynefin), Constructive Feedback & Story crafting.

    Martin has worked across the software industry for over 20 years, in startups as well as multinationals, as a senior developer, sysadmin, sales engineer, project manager, process developer and partner. Since 2006 he's worked exclusively with agile and lean methods.
    Martin has worked for agile42 since 2012, helping clients of all sizes organize themselves for improved collaboration and communication, so that they can develop better products faster. Over the last few years, he has performed substantial work with Siemens Motion Control, ABB, Swedbank and the IT department of Helsinki University, plus countless shorter training and coaching engagements with companies in the banking, media, educational and telecom sectors.
    Martin has a M.Sc. (Tech) in Software Engineering and is working on a PhD on how to organize and lead for agility. He has full training and coaching fluency in English, Finnish and Swedish.
