Overview

The Certified Scrum Product Owner course is a two-day class that will certify the attendees as a CSPO with the Scrum Alliance.
The class is based on the Scrum Core Definition from the Scrum Alliance and follows article “Five Levels of Planning” as a structure for explanations, discussions and exercises. We’ll have an agenda, yet the attendees largely determine where the focus of the class resides. What I’ll bring to the class is 25 years of experience in software development, of which 10 in the Agile Arena.
Scrum is now part of mainstream Project Management, and this class introduces experienced product managers and experienced business analysts into the world of Scrum. Scrum is used worldwide, to deliver software products in small to large and sometimes very large organizations.

Course Features

In our ‘Workshop’ style lectures, we use highly interactive games and exercises led by our Senior Scrum Trainers, with several years’ experience in large led teams internationally including the United States. This program has been successful in delivering Scrum to a large amount of multinational companies around the world.

The class works from the basics of Scrum all the way to program management with Scrum, making it a class that is suitable for product managers, business/system analysts and other roles which have a strong relation with product development cycles in an organization.

Jim Wang, CST, is a management consultant working with organizations to improve their software development processes.
Jim has 20 years of experience in the software industry within China as well as abroad. Jim began his career as a Chief Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) engineer at Vicor in the US. After living in Boston for 11 years, he has since then actively been practicing Scrum, Jim returned to China and successfully built up the Endeca Offshore Development Center in Shanghai (acquired by Oracle) and the Avid China Development Center in Suzhou, both centers were using Scrum, he has led over 150 teams through to successful delivery of high-end software products. He has also served as Director of Oracle’s Shanghai BI R&D center, held senior posts at several global software development firms he has a vast understanding of coaching and training executives from different backgrounds and cultures.

Jim specializes in interactive teaching style. His innovative approach and realistic case studies have proven to be very popular among trainees. In addition, he translated Jeff Sutherland’s and Ken Schwaber’s seminal book "Software in 30 Days" into Chinese.

Jim brings a wealth of experience to his customers, having worked with global organizations, training and coaching teams in the US, China, India, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam etc. Jim has worked with clients including Honeywell, PwC, Microsoft, McD, BMW, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Citibank, Standard Chartered, and many other global and Chinese companies.

Jim has a Master’s Degree in Computer Information Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston and in Business Administration from Babson College of Business in Wellesley.
